Specialists celebrated the Day of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic
Members of the 5th Special Forces Regiment also celebrated their holiday - the Day of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic - with a ceremonial roll call. This holiday has been celebrated every year on September 22 since 1998. Acting Commander Lieutenant Colonel Miroslav Modrocký took advantage of the festive occasion and presented the selected soldiers with a memorial cross, medals and badges of honor.
Why September 22? The reason is the beginning of the first Slovak uprising and the subsequent achievement of the first combat success dated to the "eighth" year, i.e. 1848. In Brezová pod Bradlom, the core of the volunteer expedition, together with the Slovak National Council, waged a victorious battle with the imperial cuirassiers (horsemen) and infantry soldiers carrying out the orders of the Pest government.
